International Newcomer Award for architects and interior designers under the age of 38

The award winners for the first phase of the International Newcomer Competition 2017 TILE AWARD have been determined

Munich, July 7th, 2017 – The “TILE AWARD” has been initiated by ceramic tiles specialist in architecture AGROB BUCHTAL in collaboration with AIT- Dialog for the fourth time. Young international architects and interior designers under the age of 38 had been invited to develop creative ideas with ceramic tiles.

The competition set the task to design an interior by using tiles in an innovative and creative way and thus point out the varied possibilities the material has to offer. The participants were free to submit one design concept each in the three categories HELP/CARE, SHOP/SHOW and MOBILE/TRANSIT.

For the “TILE AWARD 2017”, the jury consisting of Brendan MacFarlane (Jakob + MacFarlane, FR-Paris), Johan Oscarson | (Elding Oscarson, SE-Stockholm), Michael Stoz (Partner AG, DE-Offenburg), Boštjan Vuga (SADAR+VUGA d.o.o., SI-Ljubljana) und Christian Waldner (AllesWirdGut Architektur ZT GmbH, AT- Vienna/DE-Munich) selected the nine best designs from 63 entries from 20 countries.

The award winners are invited to join a workshop trip to Iceland from September 3rd-7th, 2017, where they have the possibility to further develop their submitted concepts together with experts from AGROB BUCHTAL.

Subsequent to the workshop, the best designs will be implemented on a scale of 1:1 and documented in a professional photo shooting.

Win a workshop trip

During the first jury session nine winners will be selected and to a five-days workshop in Iceland from September 3rd-8th, 2017. There they are given the opportunity to present their results and further develop their ideas together with experts from AGROB BUCHTAL. In the course of the workshop, floor plans and isometric drawings are developed for the designs.
